How To Use Proxy With Hulu?

Launched in 2007, Hulu is one of the biggest streaming platforms out there. It was created through the joint efforts of several media companies. On the platform, you can get on-demand content and even live TV streaming content (through its Hulu + Live TV package). There are thousands of series, movies, and documentaries both original to Hulu and from other major networks.

Hulu supports different devices, including smart TVs, gaming consoles, mobile devices, and web browsers, but it is a service primarily available in the United States. This means that you might not be able to access it in some regions outside of the United States. Also, the platform might block your access for one reason or the other.

In this case, you’ll need a proxy to be able to access Hulu. A proxy can disguise your IP address, rerouting it through its own server. This way, you can access the platform without any restrictions. In this guide, you will learn how to configure a Hulu proxy on different devices, such as Windows, Android, and even Google Chrome.

Get Free Proxy for Hulu

You cannot use a proxy with Hulu without first getting the proxy in question. You can get a proxy by exploring reliable proxy providers like Webshare. Webshare is a free proxy provider which gives you access to 10 free proxies without asking for your credit card details. You also get premium features without having to upgrade your account.

To get Webshare proxies, sign up for an account on the free proxy page.

Easiest Method: Hulu Proxy for Chrome

The easiest way to use a Hulu proxy is through Chrome Proxy Extension. On Chrome, you can easily download the Webshare Chrome extension and connect seamlessly. Here’s what to do:

  1. Install Extension

You can download the Webshare extension from the Chrome Web Store. All you need to do is search for ‘Webshare Proxy Manager’ on the web store and then click the ‘Add to Chrome’ button beside it. The extension will begin to install.

  1. Set Up Extension

When the Webshare extension has been installed, the next thing to do is to set it up. Click the Webshare icon on your Chrome extension tray and log in with your account details. After logging in, you’ll be able to access your Webshare dashboard and choose the proxy you wish to use. Then, save your settings.

  1. Activate

You can activate your proxy by selecting the Webshare extension icon and clicking ‘Connect’. Then, visit the Hulu website and start browsing freely!

Hulu Proxy for Windows Instructions

Some users might prefer to connect their Webshare proxy directly to their Windows system. If this is you, here’s what to do:

  1. Proxy Settings

The first step is to go to your Windows Settings. You can enter ‘settings’ on the search bar, or press the following buttons: ‘Windows’ + ‘I’. Then, click on ‘Network & Internet’ and open your proxy settings by clicking on ‘Proxy’.

  1. Configure Proxy

On your Proxy settings page, to set up a proxy, you’ll be asked to choose between ‘Automatic Proxy Setup’ and ‘Manual Proxy Setup’. Choosing the automatic option means that your Windows system will automatically detect your proxy settings while choosing the manual option means that you can only connect to your Webshare proxy server by entering a specific port number and IP address. We recommend using Manual options as that's the standard and easiest to use.

For ‘Manual Proxy Setup’:

  1. Click the ‘Setup’ button to open the configuration window on your screen
  2. On this window, toggle the ‘Use a proxy server’ option to On
  3. Next, enter your proxy’s server address and port. These are usually available on your Webshare dashboard.
  4. There is a box titled ‘Use the proxy server except for addresses that start with the following entries’. Here, you can input the addresses you want to visit without a proxy. Most often, we leave this option blank.
  5. To update your settings, click ‘Save’.

Hulu Proxy for Android Instructions

You can still use a proxy if you prefer to access Hulu on your Android device. All you need to do is follow the following steps to connect to your Webshare proxy server on your Android:

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi

The first step to configuring your proxy on your Android device is to connect to a Wi-Fi network. To do this, you need to open your device’s Settings page and navigate to Wi-Fi settings. There, you can connect to the Wi-Fi network you’ll be using your proxy on. After connecting, click on the settings icon beside the Wi-Fi name to set up your proxy.

  1. Configure Settings

After clicking the settings icon beside the Wi-Fi name, click ‘Advanced Settings’ on the page that opens. There, you can open your Proxy settings and then click on ‘Manual’. You’ll be asked to enter your Webshare proxy host name and port.

  1. Authentication

Once you’ve successfully set up your proxy, in order for it to start working, you’ll have to log into your Webshare dashboard to choose an authentication method. You’ll have two options: ‘Username/Password’ or ‘IP Authentication’.

Choosing ‘Username/Password’ means you’ll have to input your proxy’s username and password in your browser before being able to connect. On the other hand, choosing ‘IP Authentication’ as your authentication method means that you’ll have to enter your device’s IP address to connect directly to your proxy server.

How to test Hulu Proxy?

Once you’ve successfully activated your proxy, you’ll need to test it to see if it’s working right. To do this, after connecting to your proxy network, log into your Webshare account and visit your dashboard. If your proxy is connected, you will see the proxy’s address displayed on your dashboard. To double-check that it’s working fine, visit the Hulu website. You should now be able to browse freely without restrictions.

How to Turn off Hulu Proxy?

When you’re done browsing through the Hulu website and want to disconnect your proxy, here’s what to do:

  1. Chrome: For Chrome, you can simply turn off your Hulu proxy by selecting Webshare on your Chrome extension tray and clicking disconnect.
  2. Windows: To turn off your proxy on a Windows system, you need to open the Windows Settings and navigate to Proxy settings. There, Toggle the ‘Use a proxy server’ option to off. Afterwards, click save to update.
  3. Android: Finally, to turn off your proxy settings on your Android, open your device’s Wi-Fi settings and select ‘None’ under the Proxy settings. This will disconnect your proxy as soon as you click ‘save changes.’
